External hard drive is read only

by | 21 May 2014 | Linux | 0 comments

Last time when I plugged in my external hard drive (via USB) I couldn’t write anything on it. The external hard drive is read only (it was mounted in read only mode). So I checked my operating system, actually packages. Then I found that I need ntfs-3g package. To install it just copy and paste it in terminal:

sudo apt-get install ntfs-3g

After install it my external hard drive became fully read and write.
